Know what stays where.
How the current version handles your settings, timers, and shared sessions.
On this device
MintTimer stores preferences and recoverable timer state in your browser’s local storage. These may include your theme, sound preferences, saved durations, running timer timestamps, clock format, and world-clock city list. Standard timer tools do not require an account.
Your workspace saves favorites, recently used tools, personal templates, task labels and Pomodoro focus records locally in this browser.
Saved names and classroom activities
The Roster Library saves list names and participant names in this browser. The Random Name Picker also saves participants, exclusions and pick history. Duck Race saves participants and the current race, including its result. These classroom tools do not send this data to MintTimer’s server or automatically sync it across devices.
Spreadsheet imports
XLSX, CSV, TSV and TXT files are read in your browser. MintTimer does not upload the file, store a copy of it or save the full table preview. Only the names you select enter the editor; they are saved as classroom data when you save a roster or apply participants. Your original file remains on your device.
Name announcements
When name announcements are enabled, the Random Name Picker uses a matching voice that your browser identifies as on-device. MintTimer does not select an online voice or fall back to one if a local voice is unavailable. Voice processing is provided by your browser and operating system. You can turn announcements off in the picker display settings.
Backups and deleting local data
Workspace backups can include saved rosters, personal templates and focus history, including names and task labels. They do not include pick history, duck race progress or results, active timer state, private room links or server room records. Backup and CSV files are created on your device, not uploaded by MintTimer. Keep them private.
Deleting a roster removes that saved list, not names already applied to a picker or race. Reset picks clears the current pick history; resetting a race clears that race and its result. Both keep the participants. Clear editor names only clears the draft you are editing.
Browser storage is separate for each browser profile and website address. To remove all local copies of names and activity data, clear this site’s data in your browser; this also removes settings and timer recovery data. Downloaded files must be deleted separately. Private browsing or blocked storage may prevent saving.
Shared presentation sessions
Creating a shared presentation session sends the session’s agenda and timing state to this site’s server so a controller and an audience screen can stay in sync. Separate links grant host, operator, or audience access. Host and operator links can control a room; audience links are read-only. Share each link only with its intended recipients, and avoid putting personal or sensitive information in an agenda.
The server saves the agenda, timer state, and SHA-256 hashes of access tokens in room records. Room access expires 30 days after creation. Stored records may remain on the host until its storage-retention or cleanup policy removes them. A server can only synchronize shared sessions while it is reachable. Ordinary local timers do not need a shared room.
Feedback stays with you until you share it
The feedback tool prepares a text report locally. Copying or downloading a report does not submit it to a server. If a contact email has been configured, “Open email app” opens a draft in your email application; you choose whether to send it. Optional device details are shown in the report before sharing.
Requests and third parties
The current application includes no advertising or analytics SDK. Your browser still sends normal requests to the site’s host, and shared sessions make requests to this site’s session API. The hosting provider may process request information, such as IP addresses and server logs, according to its own configuration and policies.
Questions or corrections
Use the feedback report tool to prepare a question or report a mismatch between these notes and the application’s behavior.
